A group of us from TexasPhotoForum had a meet-up at Sabine Bridge / Skatepark on Dec. 12, 2009. The purpose of the gathering was to discuss practical uses for off camera flash using show mount flashes. Nikon has a very intuitive system called Creative Lighting System that uses infrared to transmit data from the flashes to the camera to expose and meter the subject. Myself and 3 other photographers used a 3 to 4 flashes on the model. I took advantage of 1 SB-800 and 2 SB-900’s. Those SB-900’s are awesome! That’s on my wish list for the coming year. Below are some images I took of Sydni. She has modeling experience and was evident during the photo shoot. Awesome job!

Heather and Chris were my first couple who signed up for my mock engagement photo sessions. Turns out that Chris proposed to Heather the night before! Congrats! You two look great together.
We met up at the Wortham Center in downtown Houston. When I arrived, I called Heather to let her know I was the short guy wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, with a black cap on. I also mentioned to walk down Smith St and she would eventually see me. When we met up, she said that she was a little confused as to what I would look like because all the employees at the Worthem Center were wearing black shirts and they all had black baseball caps on. Go figure! Needless to say, we met and the pictures below are the results. I hope you enjoy them Heather and Chris.
Remember Rhea and David? I shot their wedding back in September of 2008. Now that was a wedding to remember. They got married at a beautiful home with a pond in the back yard! They had an outdoor wedding. Everyone was just pure to be around. Here are some photos from the wedding.

I posted an ad in Craigslist seeking young energetic couples for mock engagement photo shoots.
“I am looking to expand my photography portfolio to include fun, young energetic couples for a mock engagement photography session. This is a great opportunity for you to get great photographs that aren’t the typical studio style photography.
Compensation includes all photos printable up to 8×10 on CD.
Photography sessions will be for 2-3 hours or longer if the couple is willing to go to different locations through out Houston or Galveston.
Couples need not be married but must be in a relationship.
A meeting prior to the session is required either over the phone or in person so we can discuss locations, date and time.
Sessions will take place on the weekend, preferably on Sunday.
Serious inquiries only.
Upon receiving your email, I will follow up with a link to my website/portfolio and my contact information. ”
The result has been fantastic! I personally want to thank everyone who has responded and to please be patient as I schedule everyone. I want these to be the best they can be! I will be setting up a calendar so clients will be able to see which days are available to book a session.
I’m so excited! I hope you guys and gals are too!
